Temporary Diversions on Stages 1 and 5
There may be diversions in Ironbridge from 30th September 2019, possibly lasting as long as August 2020. The effect on the route is relatively small and is on a part where we use the Severn Way. Diversions should be signposted by the contractors.
Currently, February 2020, we are advising there is a diversion between Jackfield and Ironbridge. Going clockwise : Continue on the track past the level crossing gates, as in the route description, until you get to the footpath closed sign. Go right up a short slope to a path that leads to the rail bridge, turn right onto this path and go straight on down past houses to Riverside Road, turn, cross the road and cross over the Jackfield free bridge , then turn left and walk uphill along the road to Ironbridge. When you get to Severn Way steps just past Valentino Row go down the steps on the left and follow the riverside footpath path past 'coracle shed' and continue to the Iron bridge.
Or an alternative, slightly shorter, but less scenic route:-
Don't cross the Jackfield bridge. Turn left and walk uphill along the road to hairpin where you turn right into Ladywood (signed Ironbridge CP) and walk through Ironbridge car park to the Ironbridge.
Also, you need wellingtons to follow the route South of the Little
Dawley Pools currently (Jan 2020). You can take a route slightly to
your Left (going Clockwise ) to avoid this.

8-year old runs the trail in stages
The son of our first solo completer has now run the trail in stages.
William Ashton (and his dad) did it in 7 stages over 13 days. His total running time was 10 hours 43 minutes. Well done.

Guide Book Launch & Walk- July 27th 2019
We have launched the new 84-page guidebook to the trail, written by Anne Suffolk. As well as the route description, the guidebook includes details of the history and the ecology along the trail. All this for just £5.00. The book was launched by Cllr Carolyn Healy , Telford & Wrekin Council's Cabinet Member for Visitor Economy & The World Heritage Site, in the foyer of Southwater library at 10.30 am on July 27th. To celebrate the launch, we held a rather wet 4-mile circular walk, incorporating the start and end of the trail and Randlay Valley. The guide book is now available at the Town Park Visitor Centre , Half-Way House on the Wrekin, Seaton Sports, and Perry's Cycles in Wellington, all the Ironbridge Museum Trust shops, Pengwern Books and the Museum Information Centre in Shrewsbury or by post (plus £2 for postage & packing) here or on Ebay. New: it is now in Waterstones in Telford Town Centre and Beatons Bookshop and Tearooms in Wellington.
Michael McCarroll, Duane Roberts and Brian Taylor completed the trail on September 15th 2019, running anticlockwise, in 10 hours and 54 minutes. Well done.. As far as we know they is the first to do this. and this is the fastest all in one go time. See the Hall of Fame.

1st Lilleshall and Muxton Scouts
Our chair presented certificates to some of the Ist Lilleshall and Muxton Scouts who did a special 40 mile version of the trail last weekend. 5 people did the whole route with support of others for parts of it. There were 50 beavers, cubs & scouts who took part altogether along with parents (and two dogs). Each did as much as they were able. So, these photos show only a small selection. Well done all.

Matthew Ashton completed the trail on June 15th 2019, running clockwise, in 11 hours and 13 minutes. Well done Matthew. As far as we know he is the first to do this. So far no one, again as far as we know, has yet run, or walked, anti clockwise in one go. See the Hall of Fame.
Update: See above.

Inaugural Meeting of the
Friends of the Telford T50 50 Mile Trail
The original group decided we needed to form an association. We adopted the constitution below and formed a committee on . Tuesday April 16th in Wellington Library. We were delighted to welcome 2 new committee members.
There is a sign up form to join as a Friend (no charge) here.
Getting Telford Walking - May 19th 2019
We think this went quite well . In general the linear walks were more successful than the circulars. The exception was the Shawbich circular which attracted 25 walkers. There are photos on the GTW page. We were going to run a similar event on May 24th, 2020, likely to be 2021 now.
Is the Trail a cycle route?
We have been asked this several times and the answer is no. It is possible to approximate the trail and here is an unofficial route that does this. Most is on bridleways, cycle paths and roads. There are short sections that are more dubious. Amazingly it is very close to 50 miles. All the places where the trail is left and joined are given as waypoints. This route has been tweaked a bit since first publication, after it was followed by two recreational riders on hybrids. They had to walk in places, but younger fitter riders may not need to.

Flickr Group for the Trail
There is now a Flickr Group with some great photos , https://www.flickr.com/groups/telfordt5050miletrail
The Trail is now marked and mapped in both directions
January 2019: Work has been going on for some time to way mark the trail in the anti-clockwise direction. This has now been finished apart from a few individual places (Paddock Mound, Apley Woods, Little Dawley, Oakengates) where a short post or a finger post is needed. Update February 2019 - the ,gpx files can be downloaded from links from here .
Bus Services
There were significant changes to the Bus services in July 2018. The bus information on leaflets 1:2, 2, 4 and 5 is a bit out of date but AFAIK the information here is correct. We found the Arriva site confusing and the on-line planner doesn't seem to deal with the new route 19 at all well. In September Wellington Walkers are Welcome showed that the whole trail could be walked in easy stages entirely by bus from Wellington.
This site http://www.telfordpublictransport.co.uk/ seems to be up to date and accurate.
Slight Amendment to Stage 7 description
The clock tower in Priorsleee was, for a time. only the site of the clock tower. It has now, December 2019, been rebuilt. Please see here .
