Phase 1 of TCW complete
We've done it! All 75 miles of the Telford Coronation Walks have been waymarked, the maps, directions and gpx files for all 23 walks are on the website, together with a downloadable spreadsheet on which you can record your progress. There are just a very few tickets left for the walk and celebration in Lilleshall on Saturday . See link. The image shows a waymark put in today on the Woodside walk.
Telford Coronation Walks- update
Work on the 23 routes is progressing well,. We have taken delivery of the waymarks and posts We have now waymarked more than half of the walks. . All the walks have been planned and all but 2 of them have been approved. We have: a celebration event planned on December 30th; Descriptions and maps for most of the walks are available.
2023 AGM
The 2023 AGM took place on Zoom on November 21st. We were pleased to welcome 2 new members onto the committee.

Green Spaces are Go Grant Events.
As part of the Green Spaces are Go grant we have arranged for 2 kissing gates to be installed in Lilleshall, 2 Nordic Walking Sessions, and 3 walks in Lilleshall , See the events page for details.
Relay Winners presentation 2023
On July 16th Trophies were presented to Shropshire Canicross and Broseley Joggers for winning the open and mixed classes respectively n the annual Telford T50 50 Mile Trail Relay Challenge.

Coronation Walks Number 9,
Before departing for home on June 18th Kate (see Anniversary item) had expressed a wish to walk the Ercall, so we invited her to check out the new Wellington - Ercall walk which is no.9 in our new series of Telford Coronation Walks.
Most of the walk is already waymarked, but Kate has now placed the initial waymark to start the walk in Wellington Market Square.

Fifth Anniversary Celebration
On June 17th , two walks met together at Leegomery Community Centre for a light buffet and the cutting of the celebration cake, during which there was a preview of a new video to promote the trail that will soon be available for all to see.

The anniversary gates
During the celebratory anniversary walk, anticlockwise along stages 5 and 4,2 , Kate Ashbrook, a Vice President of Ramblers GB and Patron of the Walkers are Welcome Towns Network, officially opened one of 2 new kissing gates that have been co-funded by the T50 and Telford & Wrekin Council. This one replaced an awkward stile , the other one replaced a really difficult "stile" at the end of Wenlocks Wood.
5th Anniversary Celebration Plans
It's very nearly 5 years since the trail was launched on June 16th 2018. On June 17th 2023 we are celebrating 5 successful years which have seen: the trail used to raise money for good causes; the guide book; the Relay Challenge; the Hall of Fame ; latterly the coronation walks project and, most importantly, a well used and maintained trail. Telford Big Walk Week

New FKT by Sam Davies
Congratulations to Sam Davies who set a new FKT of 7:39:55 on 6th May, taking over 28 mins off the previous FKT.
The Double
Congratulations to James Dowdall who ran the double on 30th/31st March. He started from Wellington, going first clockwise then anticlockwise. He finished jin just over 24 hours, click the link for his fundraising page for Severn Hospice. We are so impressed that we have opened a new page on the Hall of Fame.
Relay Challenge News
Congratulations to Shropshire Canicross who have set the bar high for this year’s Telford T50 50 Mile Relay Challenge.
They ran the 50 miles in 6 hours 49 minutes and 50 seconds ) on Sunday 2 April.
Teams can still enter to run the Relay Challenge any day between the beginning of April and the end of June.

Telford Coronation Walks
Good news. We have been successful in our grant application to the Kings Coronation Celebration Fund. The hard work to develop 23 Telford Coronation walks has now started. Thank you to those who completed our survey, and especially to those who offered help via the survey. If you did, you should have had an email on Monday 13th March. (if you think you should have had this, and you haven't, please check your spam folder). It's not too late to offer help. The sign up form is at the link
Temporary Diversion is St Georges

Coronation Walks Bid Update
Update: Success, see above. We have put in an application to develop 23 Coronation walks across the Borough. Result of the bid is expected by the end on February. This is our first go at a possible waynark. Thanks to those who expressed support. If you offered help we will be in touch. if the bid succeeds.

Entries are open for the T50 5th Anniversary 2023 relay which can be run on any one day from April to June 2023.
As this event is a celebration of the success of the trail, all runners will receive a medal, but the entry fee remains at £20 per team. Entries are invited from running clubs, from workplace teams, from charity supporters and from any ad hoc group. The minimum number of named runners is 4 (6 for a mixed team), and the maximum 20. The mixed team needs at least 3 females and 3 over 50

Invitation for April 1st 2023
Sanjit Kang, Chun Bagry and Darrell Paterson are doing the full 50 miles of the trail on Saturday 1st April 2023, They are fundraising for Severn Hospice and will set up a Go Funding page in due course. They are planning to do some other charity events to raise as much money as possible. They are hoping to get more people involved, so if anyone wants to join in please follow the link to find Sanjit on Facebook, and send a message regarding training walks and charity events etc.
