The Telford T50 50 Mile Trail was opened 10 a.m. Saturday 16 June in Telford Town Park near the Visitor Centre by Kate Ashbrook, Chair of Ramblers, Patron of Walkers are Welcome and General Secretary of The Open Spaces Society,The Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council Shaun Davies and The Mayor Raj Mehta.
It was followed by the unveiling of The Trail Information Board at the offical starting point. The opening ceremony was follwed by a series of walks and a relay run along the whole 50 mile route.

Well over 100 walkers and runners took part.
A team of 6 walkers from The Marches branch of The Long Distance Walkers Association were the first to walk the entire route in one go finishing at 5.40 am the following morning. The LDWA also led a 16 mile walk along Stages 6 and 7 to Lilleshall and back.
Telford Harriers ran the entire 50 miles as a relay run.
The Mayor and 30 walkers from Walking For Health Telford & Wrekin walked the parts of the Trail that go through The Town Park.
A team of walk leaders from Wellington Walkers Are Welcome, The Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival and Telford and East Shropshire Ramblers, accompanied by Kate Ashbrook led walks of 5, 8 and 10 miles to Woodside, Madeley and Ironbridge.
There were also walkers who started from Lilleshall and a group organised by Ketley Parish Council who started a walk around Stage 5 of the Trail to coincide with the ones started from Telford Town Park
