Walk Number

Wellington

To and over The Ercall

Wellington grew up alongside a Roman Road (Watling Street), with a village that dates from Saxon times and a church listed in the Domesday Book. The town has undergone many transformations since. There are many interesting buildings, some of which you will pass on this walk. Wellington is also the gateway to the Wrekin and The Ercall, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Ercall is an SSSI and a Local Nature Reserve with beautiful bluebell woodlands in May and three outstanding viewpoints. The walk in the woods includes rough terrain and hills, robust footwear is recommended as paths may be wet and muddy.
